Awp

So I haven't made a blog post in a while.

God, I always hate that. When people start off by blogging "oh well I haven't blogged in a while so... sorry 'bout thaaat", but I guess I can't really complain, since I just did it.

I stopped doing the 365 Project a while ago now... can't quite remember when. I mean, it was great and all, and a good creative outlet for my inner desire to go into photography, but it was just cutting into my life. Besides that, on the days when I didn't really do anything--like on weekends--I had a really tough time coming up with ideas.

I think that I adjusted my priorities a little bit, and decided that this--my blog & webcomic--are far more important than taking pictures every day.

I can't believe this. It's the 19th, and I'm whining about New Year's. I guess that's what blogs are for, though.

Anywho, no more photography. Only drawings.

Speaking of which, lots of people have come up to me wanting t-shirts with my comics on 'em. That's great and fine and all, but I have no way to get t-shirts to the people. I'm thinking of getting one of those online stores that provides a secure address for you so you can ship the orders yourself, but they're really expensive and I don't know if I have enough demand to even open one of those.

So t-shirts. Let me know in the comments.

Yah.

Drawing & Photography are the Meaning of Life

Is it wrong to mention that my birthday is coming up in two days? I think not.

In alternative news, I snapped four pictures today on my phone. I can't decide which one to put up on the 365 site, so I'll just put them all here for you to enjoy.

The weather was trying real hard to pick up the slack. When I took this, it appeared that what was left of Mother Nature's attempt to get it to snow on us was trying really hard not to melt. A few hours after this was taken, a freak blizzard reared its ugly head, bared its teeth, and showered its nasty breath on us.

My mother suffered from this freak blizzard with her hair. It gave her an extreme case of dandruff. Stupid snow.

Since my toe has still not fully healed, I had to puncture an unfortunate hole in one of my mother's fuzzy socks to keep my toe okay. I also had to wear flip-flops in January, and as we all know, this is never an uplifting experience.

For comparison, here's what my normal shoe looks like compared to my makeshift injury shoe.

Fuzzy-sock-bandage-flip-flops don't really go with Chuck Taylors. I thought the light shining through the bandage made this a pretty decent shot. Or maybe that's me trying to compensate for my silly camera. I guess I can't really complain, though, since the resolution on these pictures is not half bad, and I still have not yet been completely and utterly disappointed.

365 Revisited

Yesterday was my deadline for choosing a 365 project. The journal didn't seem like such a good idea because A. I don't have a journal and B. Owen took the last one at Border's (even though I let him).

So I broke down and I took a picture. With my phone. I know. The problem is I don't have a real camera, even though I can use the one on my phone. The problem we have with this is that my phone is not very good at getting pictures onto my computer. I would have to email them to myself, and I'm not even sure that my phone CAN email. It might not be in my plan.

What I did instead was I sent those pictures to Owen and he put them on his Facebook and I just got them from there. This was really not ideal at all and I hope I don't have to do that again. When I take today's picture for the 365 Project, I'll sit in front of my computer with my phone for hours on end if I have to just to get it to work.

So there's my plan for 2011. Take a picture every day. If you want to see my account and the pictures I'm going to take, go to http://365project.org/coffeeliam/365

Decades Suck

To get this thing up and running, I'm going to blog again. I have no intention of making this post anywhere near good, so bear with me.

Today is 1/1/11, the first day of MMXI. It's the end of a decade and the start of a new one. Something tells me this should be significant somehow, but it's not. I also think that since it's the beginning of a new year, I should do something every day for the rest of 2011. It seems like it would be interesting and something... new. But I've decided two things: A. I'm not doing a blog post every day and B. I'm not drawing a comic every day. I simply don't have the work ethic for that.

I think what I should do is do the 365 Project where you take a photo every day for a year. The only problem is that the only camera I have is on my phone, which has a camera, if you can even call it that. I don't actually have a digital camera that I can take around, so I just might see if I can get one for my birthday so I can take half decent pictures.

I've also considered keeping a journal, which is something I've never been able to successfully do on a regular basis. Ever. Not once in my life have I written in a journal consistently. So to compromise, I'm think of keeping one of those one sentence journals, where instead of writing a long entry, you just write a sentence. I  might be able to do that, but I'm wondering if my brain will suddenly realize that writing a sentence doesn't take that much effort, and I won't get excited anymore. That will lead to me procrastinating, and if you're procrastinating doing something that you brought upon yourself, something is wrong.

Between the one sentence journal and the 365 Project, I think I might even combine them and have a one-sentence caption for each of the photos I take. That might be a fair compromise.

Anywho, we'll have to wait and see how MMXI unfolds.
